Cold is the slowing of molecular motion—ordering and compaction; heat is the acceleration of molecular motion—disordering and expansion. This paper formally proposes the Axiom of Thermal Cycling in three statements: (1) the difference in molecular velocity is the sole driving force for all material migration in the universe; (2) the periodic alternation of molecular velocity is the sole mechanism for the generation of all self-organized structures; (3) replicating thermal boundary conditions at any scale enables material reconfiguration at that scale. This axiom is not derived from pure theory—it is extracted inversely from nine independent engineering scenarios including lithography, data centers, nuclear fusion, petroleum reconfiguration, and rare earth reconfiguration. Humanity has used "temperature" as a proxy indicator for engineering convenience, but it has locked our understanding of the true driving force. The Axiom of Thermal Cycling returns it.
